BERGEN COUNTY BLACK CAUCUS

Mission

Bergen County Black Caucus (BCBC) was created to serve and represent the interests of black families in Bergen County. The mission of the BCBC is to serve as a medium to uplift the voice of the black community through leadership, empowerment, and engagement on common issues of concern. BCBC will provide a forum for information exchange and networking in efforts to organize, engage, advocate, and elect committed individuals that support issues confronting black families in Bergen County.

Vision

The vision is to promote a progressive agenda that prioritizes legislation and political candidates that address the needs of black families in Bergen County, NJ.

Values

The call to action for greater involvement in the legislative processes that impacts black families in Bergen County is loud and clear. We need to have each other’s back and help each other navigate the way towards decisions that will make life better for black families in Bergen County.

BCBC puts social responsibility above all else with a focus on inclusivity. Our commitment is to our community in all aspects of our work. Communication is the foundation of our purpose.

Black Elected Officials Representing Bergen County

Bergen County is New Jersey’s first permanent European settlement and the oldest municipality. It was the seat of government until 1709 when the British settlers relocated it to Hackensack due to its central location. Many NYC and NJ professional sports clubs use the Meadowlands Sports Complex as their home ground. Bergen County is also home to the United States Census Bureau.

Bergen County’s communities are constantly featured among the best places to live in New Jersey. A lot of things make this county different, including:

  • Amazing Food: Bergen County is among the most cosmopolitan places on the East Coast, and with that comes variety in terms of dining options. Whether you prefer a typical “date night in the city” or something a little more casual, Bergen County has it all.

  • Location: Bergen County is close to major cities in New York and New Jersey. It’s no surprise that many residents work in Manhattan. Moving to and from Bergen County is easy due to the excellent transport links.
